Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
This policy covers the Exploring NJ family of websites: Exploring NJ (exploringnj.com), Get Outside, New Jersey! (getoutsidenj.com), Exploring Allaire, Point Pleasant Family Adventures, A Place and a Park and our New Jersey map sites. We are a small, independent publisher of outdoor and family places, events and guides in New Jersey.
What we collect when you visit
- Pages you visit. Our own site software records each page view: the page, the time, the page that sent you here (for example a search engine), your browser type and your IP address. We use it to count visits, find broken pages and block abusive traffic. Detailed records are deleted after 90 days; after that we keep only daily totals that identify no one.
- A session cookie. Our software sets one cookie so it can tell one visit from the next. It holds no personal information.
- We do not ask visitors to create accounts, and we do not sell or rent any information about our visitors.
Google services we use
- Google Analytics helps us understand how people use our sites (for example which pages are read and how visitors find us). It uses cookies. Google's policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
- Google AdSense shows ads on some of our sites. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com, and learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools tell us how our pages appear in search results. They report totals (searches, clicks, positions), not information about individual visitors.
Our internal reporting tool
We use a private tool called ExploringNJ Data to read our own sites' Google Search Console, Google Analytics and AdSense reports. It signs in only to the site owner's own Google account, asks for read-only access, keeps the reports privately for our own planning, and never shares or sells them. It does not collect anything from our visitors.
Other services
Our sites are delivered through Cloudflare, which protects them from attacks and may set a cookie for that purpose. Maps on our pages may load map tiles from outside map providers.
Children
Our sites are for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
